Licensing

What is the Cost of a Thoroughbred License?

Licence fees are due in full at time of issuance.
Fees can be paid by cash, cheque, debit or credit card (not available at all locations).
Some pro-rating exceptions can be made at the discretion of the AGCO licensing agent. Pre-requisites are required for obtaining various licences.

Thoroughbred Fee Schedule
Licence fees charged by the AGCO for participation in Thoroughbred horse racing in the Province of Ontario are as follows:

*The Initial Claims process also includes the application and fees for an Owner’s licence.

Cheque or money orders are payable to the Minister of Finance.
Please contact the AGCO Head Office for rate of exchange for payment in US funds.

Licence fees for individuals and entities are for a 1-year period. Licenses issued to individuals and entities for Thoroughbred racing are renewed annually according to the beginning of the race season. Licenses expire on March 1st, with the exceptions of licenses for Owners/ownership entities (Stables, Partnerships, etc.) expiring on March 31st and Appointments of Authorized Agents which are renewed according to the calendar year and expire on December 31st.

Reciprocal licensing is not currently available in Ontario.
