Licensing

Teletheatres

Teletheatres are off track betting locations operated by racetracks and licensed by the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO).

Teletheatre wagering is authorized by the Criminal Code Regulations administered by the Canadian Pari-Mutuel Agency (CPMA).  Federal regulations require that the Teletheatre area of an establishment must be operated by a licensed Racetrack Association and that the Racetrack Association must obtain a licence from the provincial government.

To operate a teletheatre in the Province of Ontario, a licence must be obtained from the AGCO. The Criminal Code, which stipulates the regulatory framework for teletheatres, provides that only a licensed Racetrack Association can be licensed to operate a Teletheatre.
